Katie was awarded the Graduate Student Research Grant from Psi Chi!

Katie is a recipient of the competitive Graduate Student Research Grant for her dissertation study! For her dissertation study, she is collaborating with BronxWorks, a community-based non-profit organization to test the feasibility and efficacy of Connected Futures, a web-based intervention. Connected Futures is designed to empower high school students to recruit mentoring relationships and provides concrete practice with help-seeking skills to demystify the steps around applying to college.

Liz was granted tenure this Spring! Congrats Liz!

Former undergraduate lab member, Emily Romero, is given two awards upon graduation!

Emily Romero, former undergraduate student in the Raposa lab and current PhD student at UMass Boston, received two awards upon graduation in the Spring! She won a Fordham College Alumni Association Encaenia Award and the Anne E. Leight Award within the Psychology department. Congrats Emily!

Nicola and Cristina received a Fordham GSAS Summer Research Fellowship!

Both Nicola and Cristina were awarded a 2022 Fordham Summer Research Fellowship, a grant to support graduate students in their research over the summer.

Cristina wins APAGS/Psi Chi Junior Scientist Fellowship!

Cristina is a recipient of the competitive APAGS/Psi Chi Junior Scientist fellowship this year! The APAGS/Psi Chi Junior Scientist Fellowship provides support for research-oriented graduate students to conduct independent projects. Her study uses a mixed-methods approach to capture psychosocial and physiological markers of first-generation college students’ functioning in response to stress. The project also aims to examine a promising cognitive resilience factor that may play a key role in buffering the unique stressors experienced by underrepresented college students.
